Meet Prem (he/him)! Students appreciate Prem's calm, encouraging attitude and his sense of humor. His math and economics expertise is grounded in real-world applications. He earned both an MS in Applied Economics and a BA in Economics from UC Santa Cruz, graduating at the top of the class. Prem began tutoring as a volunteer in high school and continued working with students throughout his undergrad and grad school careers. As a grad student, he was a Teaching Assistant in Macroeconomics and Statistics, and has tutored students in a wide range of classes including high-level math, Microeconomics, Linear Algebra, and even Astronomy. After completing his formal education, Prem taught at his local community college as an Adjunct Instructor for the Economics department before transitioning to a role as a Financial Data Analyst. Prem believes that learning and studying are both skills, and like any skill, they can be refined with practice. He likes to help his students develop a growth mindset and show them that learning does not always follow a linear trajectory. When Prem is not teaching or working with data, he enjoys running, hiking, visiting museums, and playing competitive games with friends or family.
