Tutor Feature: Lauren B.
Meet Lauren (she/her/hers), who holds a BA in Psychology from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and an MA in Developmental Disabilities from Teachers College at Columbia University. She has worked in education since 2014 and is passionate about early intervention and facilitating student success. Lauren has served as a reading and math tutor for elementary students in Title 1 schools, creating tailored lesson plans for students based on their state standardized test scores. She has also taught through AmeriCorps for two years. With AmeriCorps, she provided push-in support in math and early literacy for early elementary classrooms, conducted small group tutoring sessions, and served as a team lead/teacher manager for a group of instructors. Lauren also served as a coordinator and tutor for Reading Partners, a reading intervention program in San Jose.
Most recently, Lauren participated in research through Stanford’s Center for Interdisciplinary Brain Studies Research lab, conducting assessments and tracking data as they monitored and assessed students with learning differences. Lauren believes in using assessments and student data to create tailored learning plans for students in order to help them become their best academic selves. She would be a fantastic support to any classroom teacher looking for a top-notch educator to support student learning outcomes. With Tutor Corps, Lauren tutors all subjects K-5 specializing in reading and math intervention.
