Tutor Features: Writing Tutors
Tutor Corps is proud to work with thoughtful humanities tutors, always willing to go the extra mile to try out a creative way to help students think about the world and express themselves in new ways. Meet two of our favorite humanities tutors this year!
Meet Debbie
Debbie (she/her/hers) graduated with high honors from Pepperdine University with a B.A. in English. She minored in speech communication, writing, and French. She also holds a Clear Single Subject Teaching Credential in English from California State University, Northridge and a Cross-cultural, Language and Academic Development Certificate. Additionally, she has taken numerous workshops in teaching Gifted and Talented Learners. Debbie has over 16 years of experience teaching English/Language Arts at high schools and a middle school in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Debbie has been working with Tutor Corps since 2020 and we’re so happy she’s on our team!
Meet Nataly
Nataly (she/her/hers) graduated from the University of La Verne with an MA in Education and Cal Poly Pomona with a BA in English. Shortly after graduating from Cal Poly, she entered the teaching profession and taught full-time for 15 years as a high school English and history teacher. Nataly eventually traded in teaching full-time to teach part-time while simultaneously working as a literary editor. She finds immense satisfaction in teaching writing and motivating young students to explore literature. Nataly has been working with students since 1998 in English, writing, cultural studies, such as African American and Latinx studies, and American history at the high school level. Additionally, Nataly is an award-winning children's book author. Nataly has been working with Tutor Corps since 2019 and we’re so glad to have her on our team!
